How to Play

The cell that escaped the petri dish has fallen into the bloodstream, and the current is dragging it forward fast. Your job is to keep it alive as long as possible.

The vessel is split into three lanes. Your cell runs forward on its own and keeps speeding up. Switch lanes to dodge blood clots and viruses, jump over rolling red blood cells, and duck under fibrin bridges. Grab floating nutrients for points and catch power-ups for an edge. One hit and the run ends — your score is the distance you covered.

There is always a way through: at least one lane is guaranteed clear, so every wall of obstacles is solvable if you read it early.

Controls

· Touch: swipe left/right to change lane, swipe up to jump, swipe down to duck.

· Desktop: or A D to change lane, / Space to jump, / S to duck, Esc to pause.

Tips & Strategy

· Commit early. At high speed you must pick your lane a moment before you reach the obstacle, not on top of it.

· Know the tell. Low rolling cells → jump. High bridges → duck. Solid clots and spiky viruses → switch lane. When in doubt, switch to the clear lane.

· Shield is a free hit. Grab it and you can afford one mistake — but only one.

· Dash is invincible. During a speed dash you plough through everything and score faster; save the aggressive collecting for then.

· Nutrients guide you. A line of nutrients usually marks a safe path — follow it.

Obstacle Field Guide

Four things can end your run. Each one blocks a different part of the lane, which is what decides whether you dodge sideways, jump, or duck. Reading the shape is the whole game.

Add it up and roughly half of everything you meet is solved by a lane change, not by jumping or ducking. If you only ever learn one reflex, make it the sideways one.

How Scoring Works

· Distance pays 1 point per metre, and it never stops ticking. Simply surviving is the main source of score.

· Nutrients are worth 10 points each — the equivalent of ten metres. That is a real bonus, but it is not worth dying for: ten metres is about a quarter of a second at top speed.

· Your best distance and best score are stored in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account. Clearing your browser's site data for rickbing.com will erase them.

Why It Gets Harder

The difficulty is not random — it follows a fixed curve, and knowing it changes how you play.

· You accelerate constantly. The run starts at a gentle pace and speeds up every single second until it reaches a hard ceiling roughly a minute in. After that the speed stops rising.

· The gaps tighten as you accelerate. Obstacles spawn further apart early on, and the spacing shrinks as speed builds — so you get less thinking time from both directions at once.

· Then it plateaus. Once you hit top speed the game stops getting harder. This is the single most useful thing to know: the first minute is a difficulty ramp, everything after it is a test of consistency. Players who survive to the plateau usually die from a lapse in attention, not from a new challenge.

Power-Ups

Three power-ups float in the vessel. All of them are worth a small detour, but only one is worth a risky one.

· Shield (green) — absorbs exactly one hit and is then gone. It does not stack and it does not expire, so once you have it you can carry it as insurance into a section you cannot read.

· Magnet (pale blue) — for about six seconds nearby nutrients pull toward you. Its real value is that you can ignore collecting and concentrate purely on obstacles while it is active.

· Dash (amber) — for a little over three seconds you accelerate hard and destroy obstacles on contact instead of dying to them. The camera widens so it feels faster than it is. This is the one power-up worth crossing two lanes for: it is both free distance and temporary invulnerability.

Advanced Notes

· A lane change is far cheaper than a jump. Switching lanes takes barely a tenth of a second, while a jump keeps you airborne — and unable to react to anything new — for more than half a second. When two answers would both work, sideways is almost always the safer one.

· Never jump "just in case." Because a jump commits you for so long, a speculative jump is how most avoidable deaths happen: a fibrin bridge appears while you are still in the air and there is nothing you can do.

· Do not chase the last nutrient. At full speed a nutrient is worth about a quarter-second of running. Trading a safe lane for it is a bad deal every time.

· Use the dash aggressively. It is the only window in the game where mistakes are free. Spend it ploughing straight through dense sections rather than saving it for a "better" moment that may never come.

Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Swipe left and right to change lane, up to jump, down to duck. The game is built to stay smooth on mobile hardware.
I jumped and still died. Why?
Almost certainly a fibrin bridge. It hangs across the upper part of the lane, so jumping lifts you into it. Bridges must be ducked under.
Where is my high score saved?
In your own browser, on your own device. It is never sent anywhere. Using a different browser or device means starting from zero, and clearing site data erases it.
Can I pause?
Yes — press Esc or use the Pause button above the game.
Does it need an internet connection?
Only to load. Once the page has loaded, the game itself runs entirely on your device.

The Biology Behind Cell Rush

The obstacles are stylised, but they are not invented. Every one of them is a real feature of blood.

· A blood clot is what forms when platelets pile up and a mesh of protein locks them in place. It is the body sealing a leak — and it is genuinely dangerous when it happens in the wrong vessel, which is why it makes a fitting wall to crash into.

· Fibrin is that protein mesh. In a real clot it is a tangle of fibres rather than a tidy bridge, but the idea that strands can span a vessel and catch things passing through is accurate.

· Red blood cells are the most numerous cell in your blood by an enormous margin. Real ones are flexible biconcave discs that squeeze through capillaries narrower than they are; the game renders them as solid rolling shapes because "deformable disc" does not make much of an obstacle.

· Viruses in the bloodstream are real enough to have their own word — viraemia, the state of virus particles circulating in blood.

The biggest liberty is the running itself. A real cell in a vessel does not sprint; it is carried by the flow. That said, the game's core image is not pure fantasy: white blood cells genuinely do travel along vessel walls in a rolling motion, slowing themselves against the surface before squeezing out of the vessel to reach tissue. A cell moving purposefully through a vessel while everything else rushes past is a real thing — it just happens far more slowly, and with far less jumping.

About the Game

Cell Rush is the first 3D title in the Cell Games collection. It is built with Three.js and runs entirely in your browser — no download, no plugin, no sign-up. It is designed to be light: low-poly geometry and instanced rendering keep it smooth on phones. Your best distance is saved locally on your device.
